Oxford Lions to host 2nd Annual Great Paddle Adventure

OXFORD – The Oxford Lions will host the 2nd Annual Great Paddle Adventure, on Father’s Day, June 16. The Lions have established a self-guided kayak trip down the Chenango River, starting in Oxford at the Water Treatment Plant boat landing. From there, paddlers can enjoy a leisurely three-mile journey before stopping near Buckley Hollow Road, where everyone will be supplied with a complimentary meal.

There will also be music, with additional food and beverages available for purchase. After enjoying their meal, paddlers have the option of immediately concluding their trip, or choosing to journey another 5 miles down the river, to a private boat landing just above Brisben on Route 32.

“Last year’s inaugural event drew 50 paddlers, and this year we hope to top 100” said Lion Jim Baldwin. Lion John Knapp added: “The event was designed as a relaxing outing the whole family can enjoy. No matter where the journey starts or ends, Oxford Lions will be there to assist with all of the paddler’s needs.”
