SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville’s field hockey team battled to tie before falling in overtime to the visiting Indians of Sauquoit Valley in what proved to be the final game of the 2017 season for the Marauders.

“Both teams played with great intensity and determination,” said Sherburne-Earlville head coach Christina Layman. “This game concludes S-E’s season as a loss does not qualify us for sectionals.”

Just :42 seconds into overtime the Indians ripped any leftover chance of a postseason berth away from the Marauders – claiming the win 3-2 win on Wednesday, October 11.

The teams were locked in at 2-2 when the buzzer rang as both teams played with equally high intensity, resulting in S-E having 21 shots and 11 corners and Sauquoit having 17 shots and nine corners.

Sauquoit’s LaSalle, struck first in the Indian raid of the Marauders – scoring with 9:58 left in the first half. The goal was assisted by her teammate Lewandowski.
