Barnaby Bright will shine at 6OTS Saturday night

OXFORD – This Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present the very talented Barnaby Bright. They are Becky and Nathan Bliss, fresh, young songwriter-performers who bring a certain sultriness and sweetness to their classic folk/pop leanings and their playful chemistry shines on-stage. Becky’s classically trained gorgeous vocals and Nathan’s multi-instrumentals have garnered them tremendous accolades and awards. “Bright” indeed, but don’t just take our word.

Nathan and Rebecca Bliss, from Brooklyn, (by way of Kansas City, KS), both were professionally trained in music with college degrees. Between them, they can play over twenty instruments. Sparks were bound to happen when these talents were brought together by a booking agent, and it wasn’t very long before they were making beautiful harmonies together. The performing name they chose, Barnaby Bright, was taken from an old English rhyme for “the longest day and the shortest night”, (referring to the Summer Solstice). Apparently they knew that together they would burn brightly!

In 2007, their song, “If I Came Back as a Song” was voted 3rd place winner in the International Song Writing Competition by a notable panel of judges that included Tom Waits.

In 2009 they created their first studio album, “Wake the Hero.” With its beautiful acoustic guitar patterns, rich string arrangements, quirky instruments and subtle electronic tweaks, it quickly generated a buzz throughout the music scene.
