GREENE – Greene ran its MAC unbeaten streak to 41 meets, and set two new school records in Thursday’s win over Sherburne-Earlville.

Patrick Kelsey, swimming the 500-yard freestyle for the first time this season, completed the distance event in 5:43.52, a seven-second drop over the previous record.

George Flanagan shattered the 100-yard breaststroke mark as well. He went more than two seconds below his personal-best time, and the 1:06.20 was over 1 1/2 seconds better than the previous standard of 1:07.93. “Before the meet, Patrick and George said their goals were to set records tonight,” Platta said. “It’s a pleasant surprise for them to get the records this late in the season. We’ve been putting in nearly 4,000 yards at each 90-minute practice.”
