SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville scored in every inning in shutting out Morrisville-Eaton Wednesday.
S-E junior Matt Smith faced one batter over the minimum striking out 11 in five innings, walking none, and allowing just one single. “Matt is throwing it really well right now, and obviously we hit the heck out of the ball today,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks.
Jake Bohnert, Mike Wilson, and Dave Sulton all had three hits for S-E, who finished with 17 hits in just four innings worth of at-bats.

NORWICH – Norwich struggled to contain Owego’s batters all game giving up 27 hits in blowout defeat Wednesday at Veterans Park.
Owego, playing its season opener, scored early and often building a 13-2 lead after three innings to support winning pitcher Devin Bensley. Bensley also had a big day at the plate with five hits, and six RBI. Stephen Yanchus had two triples, and Matt Francis homered.
Colby Griffin was 2-for-3 to lead Norwich.

Unatego 12, Oxford 2
OTEGO – Unatego scored eight of its runs over the fifth and sixth innings capitalizing on seven Oxford base on balls in Wednesday’s victory over the Blackhawks.
Dan Shelton fanned 11 Oxford hitters over five innings to earn the victory, and the Unatego staff had 15 strikeouts in the contest. Shelton also had two hits, one a double, finishing with two RBI. “We struck out 15 times, we walked 10 batters, and had four errors. That is not a recipe for success,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Adam Pierson went 3-for-4 to lead Oxford. Ryan Moore and Andrew Golden drove in runs for Oxford in a two-run first inning.
The Blackhawks (0-2) play at Delhi today.

OTEGO – Oxford won its second lopsided final of the week blowing out an overmatched Unatego squad Wednesday.
Jacquelyn Heggie drove in three runs, while Jessica Frank, Julianne Heggie, Meg Golden, and Lacey Barry drove in two runs apiece.
