Peter Leonard

NORWICH – Peter Taylor Leonard, 57, of Cortland Street, Norwich, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born at the Queens Memorial Hospital in the borough of Queens, NYC, in February of 1950, Peter lived in Bellerose, Long Island, where he attended grade school and Jefferson High School. He attended SUNY Binghamton for a short period, then Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Mass., before going to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. Despite his chronic ill health (asthma), Peter pursued many interests... politics, economics, chemistry ... and had a real bent for mathematics. Give him your phone number and he remembered it forever. He was a well-known figure at the Guernsey Memorial Library where he researched whatever was interesting to him at the time, wrote voluminous letters to political figures, and made many friends among the library staff.
Peter is survived by his mother, Sharon Rhinelander of Smyrna, and his friends from many and varied walks of life who will miss him.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 from the Jewish Community Center on South Broad Street.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Lung Association of NYS, Utica Area Office, 5096 Commercial Drive, Yorkville, NY 13495.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
