Leslie Penfold


NORWICH – On Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, Leslie E. Penfold said farewell and left this world in search of her loved ones who had gone ahead. Her childhood years were spent in Sherburne, Rockwell Mills and Norwich. She was a graduate of Norwich High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Masters in Special Education from Syracuse University. She was employed as a Special Education Teacher by the Chenango Delaware BOCES for 17 years and during that time worked in the Greene, South Otselic, Norwich and Trout Creek BOCES.  In her forties and ready for a change in profession, she earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from SUNY Oneonta. She was employed as a K-12 Counselor at the Charlotte Valley Central School until her retirement in 1999. 
Leslie found peace in the hills and valleys and streams of upstate New York.  She played the piano and was Prima Ballerina with the Otselic Ballet for many years.  Music was her lifelong passion. 
She is survived by her sister, Wendy Penfold of Ithaca, and her very favorite niece and nephew, Jenna and Bobby Lamb, her daughter and husband, Betty and James Barron and her granddaughters Abigail and Reegan of Spring Hill, Fla., her Aunt and Uncle Maurice and Beryl Penfold of Gloucester, England,  her cousins Carole Krause, Julie Schiff and her son Tyler, Kelly Davis and her children MacKenzie and Kyle Holmes, Colleen and Steve Colson and their children Logan and Carter, and Phil Penfold. She also is survived by her dear friends, Kathy Benedict, Rod Sutton, Andrea Wilson, John Tucci and her little dog person, Kylee.  She was predeceased by her mom, Helen Rogers Penfold, her aunts and uncles, Gertrude and Bob Craine, Buddy and Paul Brown, her cousins Susan Curry and Ray Krause, her best furry friend and companion of 14 years, Tiki, her Appaloosa mare Comanche Grande, and her beloved friends, Jerry Olds, Marie Barbieri , Annie , Bevvy, Mary Briggs and Lynne Hoffman. These people she loved dearly in life and has joined them now.
As Leslie requested, there will be no calling hours or services. Donations in her memory may be made to the Otsego County SPCA in Hyde.
