Maryjane Hubbard

NORWICH – MaryJane “M. J.” Hubbard, 72, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 25, 2007 in the Chase Memorial Nursing Home of New Berlin, where she had resided since April..
The daughter of Theodore C. and Minnie (Randall) Hubbard, MaryJane was born in Norwich in March of 1935. Following her graduation from Norwich High School, she worked for a brief time in Dr. Adams’ dental office and for the City of Norwich before beginning her lengthy career with Victory Markets. MaryJane worked as an inventory control manager, “retiring” at the end of 37 years when the company’s closing forced the situation. She immediately took employment with McLaughlin’s Department Store, continuing to work until her only illness which necessitated her move to Chase Nursing Home. MaryJane was an associate member of both the American Legion and VFW Posts of Norwich, and an enthusiastic Quick Draw player. Away from work, golfing was her life, whether talking about it, watching it on the television, or actually playing the game. A person who without a doubt lived life to the fullest, she had enjoyed a last ride around the Riverbend Golf Course and a “liquid refreshment” with a group from the Chase Home, just a week before her passing.
MaryJane is survived by her children, Julee J. Beltz and husband John, and James Hubbard and wife Debbie; by grandchildren Cody and Tiffanee Hubbard and Kyle and Lindsay Beltz, all of Norwich; and by her brother, James M. Hubbard of Orlando. Also surviving is her nephew Jeffrey Hubbard as well as other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joanne Grant and J. Jean Hubbard.
A celebration of MaryJane’s life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Taylor’s Country House in Norwich. Everyone is welcome.
MaryJane’s family wishes to thank everyone at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin, not only for the compassionate care given to MaryJane, but for their kindness to her family.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
