Lee Soule Jr.


 HAMILTON – Lee “Pete” Soule, Jr., 71, of River Road, passed away Wednesday, Oct.r 24, 2007 at University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born May 25, 1936 in Georgetown, a son of Lee Sr. and Vadie V. Wilson Soule and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. On Aug. 24, 1956, Pete married Dorothy Gorton in Hamilton. Pete was a self-employed cattle dealer most of his life. He was an accomplished horseman and the NBHA Barrel Racing World Champion in 2004. He also held barrel racing clinics for children.
Mr. Soule was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hamilton; the National Barrel Horse Association; the Farm Bureau; and the Cattle Dealers Assoc. He was a former member of the Pinto Horse Association and the Paint Horse Association.
Pete is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee, III and Debbie Soule of Hamilton; Michael and Susan Soule of Munnsville; two step-grandchildren, Ashley and Matt; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jay “Bud” Soule; and five sisters, Edith Wootton, Josephine Lollman, Evelyn Slaucenburg, Beulah Cruikshank and Alma Gartley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2369 Lake Moraine Road, Hamilton, followed by burial in the Eaton Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Pete’s family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the Ride for Life Family and Equestrian Center, 7762 N. Court St., Canastota, NY 13032.
