Michael Mantell


SHERBURNE – Michael D. Mantell, 44, of State Highway 12, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica.
He was born Sept. 5, 1963 in Oneida, a son of Frederick D. and Joyce L. Webb Mantell and was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School. On July 24, 2003, Mike was married to Nancy C. Smith in Sherburne. He was a self-employed carpenter for several years working throughout the local communities, and was currently employed at Colgate University in Hamilton. Mike was a happy and sociable guy who enjoyed meeting people and having lively discussions about nearly any subject.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; his mother, Joyce Mantell of Morrisville; mother-in-law, Joan Smith of Sherburne; daughter, Miranda Crawford of Albany; three sons, Jerry Crawford of Oregon; Timothy Mantell of Canastota and Christopher Mantell of Eaton; a sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Stephen Hastings of Clermont, Fla.; two brothers, Wayne Mantell of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jeffrey Mantell of Canastota; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick Mantell in 2000 and his father-in-law, James Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2369 Lake Moraine Rd., Hamilton.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 South Main St., Sherburne.
