SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Beverly Jean Colyer Petry Wright, 73, of South New Berlin, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born in Norwich in 1934 the daughter of Harry and Winifred (Northrup) Colyer. She lived most of her life in South New Berlin and Norwich. She attended school in South New Berlin and was then married to George H. Petry in 1951 in New Berlin. They had seven children while together. They are Linda Guinn and husband Jim of Norwich, Donna Dacre and husband Terrence of Frederick, Md., Michael Petry and wife Carolyn of Norwich, Thomas Petry and wife Candy of South New Berlin, Theresa Orzeck and her husband Richard of Trumansburg, Wendy Jones and husband Ted of New Berlin, and Shawn Petry and wife Ellen of Wahiawa, Hawaii. In 1980 she married Richard F. Wright. He also had seven children. They are Richard Wright and wife Judi of Norwich, William Wright and wife Vicki of Fredricka, Del., Robert Wright and wife JoAnn of Algonac, Mich. Donald Wright and wife Terry of Marshall, Mo., Sherri Christian and husband Steve of North Norwich, and Tom Wright and wife Lori of Clardon, Ohio; and her sisters, Marie Broadbent of South New Berlin, Pat Kuhn of Gilbertsville, and Naomi Burt and husband Stew of Tennessee; and a half-brother, Albert Dennison of Norwich.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge of South New Berlin Beverly enjoyed working on the farm and also working for Norwich Eaton Pharmaceutical Co. for over 24 years. She enjoyed the outdoors and particularly enjoyed taking care of all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed having all of her and his children together for parties. And also camping and living by the river, seeing all the wildlife, flowers and buds.
At the time of her death she is survived by 36 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Bolek. In Beverly’s own words, “All my children and stepchildren have brought me great joy. I feel truly blessed.”
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. At 5:30 a funeral service will be held at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Sheldon officiating.
