Carolyn Hailey

NORWICH – Carolyn Frances Hailey, of New York City, died on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 at Cabrini Hospice, Manhattan, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 57.
She was born on May 4, 1950, in Washington, D.C., to Dr. Francis J. and the late Dorothy Badur Hailey. She was a 1968 graduate of Norwich Senior High School in Norwich, and a 1972 graduate of Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. Her career began as a freelance producer of national television commercials for many of the country’s most respected and well-known brands. Later in her career, she served as a line producer for the Emmy Award winning Martha Stewart Living television series. Most recently, she oversaw production management and program development for Lightworks Producing Group, a television production company that provides programming to broadcasters such as the Hallmark Channel, A&E, and the History Channel.
She was a seasoned traveler, frequently visiting family around the country and around the world. Her many excursions included Russia, India, Egypt, Syria and the Sudan. She was also an avid hiker who made annual visits to her favorite lodge in New York’s Adirondack Mountains. Most of all, she was the epicenter of an extended network of family and friends, all of whom were touched by her wicked sense of humor, indomitable will, and genuine caring spirit.
She is survived by her father, Francis J. Hailey, of Norwich; her siblings Pamela (Daniel) Arterburn, of Questa, N.M., Dr. Charles (Patricia) Hailey of New York City, Patrick (Hounada) Hailey of Munich, Germany, Timothy (Beth) Hailey, of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., and Mary Kathleen (Michael) Peterson of Burke, Va., and her beloved niece and nephews, Brianna, Connor, Ethan, Aaron and Aidan, as well as her lovingly anticipated niece to be born in January 2008.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation, 170 Township Line Road, Building B, Hillsborough, NY 08844, or online at www.melanoma.org.
