Larry Matott


SHERBURNE – Larry D. Matott, 54, of Shawler Brook Road, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
He was born Dec. 13, 1952 in Norwich, a son of Burton W. and Teresa Hayden Matott and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. Larry was a life long resident of Sherburne who worked for his family’s business, Burton W. Matott, Inc. for over 30 years. He later became a self-employed recreational vehicle mechanic and salesman. On Oct. 21, 1978, Larry married Rae Ann Edick in Sherburne.
Larry was a member of the Sherburne Wheelers; the Shasta Snowmobile Club, the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his grandson roaming the hillside behind his house.
Surviving are his daughter, Kacie R. Matott and his grandson, Tyler of Sherburne; his parents, Burton and Teresa Matott of Sherburne; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Burton and Doris Matott of Norwich; James and Maria Matott of Sherburne; Mark and Tammy Matott of Norwich; his former wife, Rae of Norwich; his former in-laws, Ray and Lillian Edick of Norwich; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including his uncle Harvey Sutton. Also surviving are many, many other extended family members and friends. Larry was predeceased by his granny, Irene LaGray, and his close friend Tom Schuster.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne.
Burial will be at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
