Richard Brown


PITCHER – Richard L. Brown, 80, died peacefully at the Alliance Center for Healthcare in DeLand, FL, Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. 
He was born in Pitcher, to Lynn and Velmah (Loomis) Brown. A retired dairy farmer and avid hunter, Richard lived in the town of Pitcher until moving to Florida in 2002. On Sept. 30, 1976, he married the late Susie T. Benjamin. 
Richard is survived by his eight children and stepchildren, Janice (Richard) Sloan of McGraw; Linda (Mitchell) Eccleston, Christine (Michael) Aiken, and Brenda (Douglas) Breed of Cincinnatus, Roger Benjamin of Cortland, Terry (Larry) Swayze of Ithaca, Connie (J. Larry) McFarland of DeLand, Fla.; and Debbie (Robbie) Terry of Ruther Glen, Va.; four brothers, Donald (Betty) Brown, Kenneth Brown, Larry (Sally) Brown; one sister, Betty (Milton) Cruikshank; in-laws Helen, Ruth and Shirley Brown and Donald Benjamin.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, David Cox; Keri (Shufelt) Rifanburg; Travis Gross; Amie McFarland; Chad, Alicia and Darin Aiken; Lorie and Jamie Breed; Megan McFall; Jordan Terry; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by siblings Leonard (Cork), Marlin (Chub), Gordon (Jack) and Shirley Brown, Norma (Sid) Benjamin; sister-in-law Lillian Brown and grandson, Jason Hurlburt.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, at 7 p.m. Thursday with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday. 
Interment will be in Wayside Rest Cemetery, Pharsalia, at a later date.
