Louise Sweet


McDONOUGH – Louise Sweet of McDonough passed away Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2007 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital of Norwich.
Born in Rockville Center, Louise was the daughter of Robert C. and Ruth (Whelan) Laicher. She was a graduate of the Parsippany High School and continued her education at Ohio State University where she earned her BS in Natural Resources in 1971. On Sept. 12, 1970 in Whippany, N.J. she married Gary Sweet who survives. Louise and her husband moved to Chenango County in 1991 from Newark Valley.
Louise was a woman who had a passion for the out of doors and nature. Her love of natural beauty and its surroundings continued, following her graduation from Ohio State. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed her gardening and was the “green thumb” of her family. Over the years Louise and her husband enjoyed many camping and canoeing trips throughout the country. They were also active participants of dog sledding races in which they trained the dogs and participated in many mid distance races.
Louise was an employee of Unison Industries where she had worked from 1985 to 2007 and leaves behind an extended family of co-workers.
Louise is survived by her husband of 37 plus years, Gary of McDonough; her son Stephen (Cindy) Sweet of Richford; her three grandchildren: Bradley, Logan and Carissa Sweet; her sisters: Florence Laicher of Carmel and Christine (Arnold) Miniman of Boonton, N.J. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorial services for Louise will be held at 6 p.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m.
