MT. UPTON – LaVerne H. DeForest IV (Butch) of Mt. Upton passed away Sunday morning Sept. 9, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Butch was born in San Antonio, Texas on Sept. 11, 1959. He spent most of his years in the area working for the family business in Mt. Upton. He served four years in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980.
He is survived by his children LaVerne H. DeForest V (Luke) and his wife Stephanie of Brandon, Fla., Jacob DeForest of Mt. Upton and Chelsea DeForest of Rockdale; two granddaughters Hailey and Hanna DeForest of Brandon, Fla.; his sister Pierrette DeForest of Williston, S.C.; and brothers Lance DeForest and Kelli of  North Norwich and Christopher and Tammy Lambert of Colquitt, Ga. His parents LaVerne H. DeForest III and Carol DeForest of Mt. Upton. His birth mother Treva (Bonnie) Lambert of Williston, S.C. And several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his companion Jennifer Mellon and her son Jeffery of Mt. Upton.
Butch was best known for his passion for snowmobile racing and quick witted sense of humor. An asset to the family business, Butch also enjoyed time with family and friends.
Our family would like to thank all of our friends for the love and support they have provided during this time.
A memorial service will be held at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, at 3 p.m. on Friday.
