Donald Miner


MT. UPTON – Donald R. Miner, age 64, of Dix St. Rose, NY passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.
He is survived by his wife Lucinda (Van Fleet) Miner; daughters Kim (Robert) Carey of Norwich, Amy (Gregory) Franklin of Norwich, Kristin (Johnny) Moore of Buffalo; sons, Brett Miner of Rochester, Kevin (Stacey) Richards of Florida; parents, Lester and Eleanor (Pope) Winfield of Mt. Upton; brothers, John (Marie) Miner of Gilbertsville, Carlton Miner of Sidney, Eugene (Bonnie) Miner of Hawaii, William (Donna) Miner of Florida; sisters Dianna Wheeler of Florida, Joan (Ronald) Wildenstein of Mt. Upton; 14 grandchildren: Susan (Chris) McCoy, Claire Seary, Thomas J. Seary, Nathan Franklin and Natalee Franklin, Brandon Grainge, Lindsey Wilkins, Zachary Richards, Kirstie Richards, Kelsie Richards, Johnny Moore Jr. Janiquka Moore, Dejon Moore and Jevon Moore.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Miner in 1955 and first wife Barbara Parsons Miner in 1982.
Don was born on March 22, 1943, in Mt. Upton, a son of Raymond and Eleanor Pope Miner. He retired from McAlpin Industries in Rochester as a tool maker. Don was a past member of the Mt. Upton Fire Department and the Norwich Elks (BPOE) and a current member of the Bradenton, Florida Moose Lodge.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Upton Fire Department or to the Rose Free Methodist Church.
Friends and family may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Norwich, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Tom Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton.
