NORWICH – Mary A. Chimento, 77, of Hillview Drive in Norwich passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born July 25, 1930 in Norwich, Mary was the daughter of Nicholas and Antonia (Calapa) Arico. She graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1948 and had several jobs before joining the workforce at the Norwich Pharmacal Company. She remained there for 34 years retiring during the late 1980’s.
Mary was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church. She took great pleasure in cooking, but her true love was caring for her family.
On Feb. 5, 1966, in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Mary married Mercurio “Mario” Chimento, who survives. She is also survived by a son, John Chimento, of Clifton Park, and three grandchildren, Nicholas Michael, John Michael and Logan Mario Chimento, all of Clifton Park. Additionally, Mary is survived by a brother, Anthony Arico and his wife, Carmella, of New Brunswick, N.J. and a sister, Frances Zieno of Sidney. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Burial will follow the service in St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
