Robert Galvin


NORWICH – Robert J. “Bob” Galvin, 81, of Norwich, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 3, 2007 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norwich in 1925, Bob was the son of James and Dora (Balcom) Galvin. Following his graduation from St. Paul’s Catholic School, he attended and graduated from the Norwich High School. Bob was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. During his working years, he had sold both jewelry and shoes, and was employed for 15 years as a fork lift operator in the warehouse of Victory Markets, from which he retired in 1960. Known as an easy-going fellow. Bob was a good friend to all and was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand.
Bob is survived by several cousins in and around the Norwich area, and by his good friend, Marguerite Rogers of Norwich.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
