Donald Shoales


NORWICH – Donald Floyd Shoales, 83 of West Main Street, Norwich passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 24, 1923 in Norwich, Donald was the son of Floyd M. and Lillian (Squires) Shoales. He attended Norwich City Schools and then worked for Norwich Shoe Company, Arrow Laundry, and retired as a cook at the Bluebird Restaurant. Following retirement he was an avid bicycle repairman.  Donald loved attending auctions.
He was married to Jeanette E. Ireland, who passed away July 16, 1985.  He is survived by four children, Sandra Leaver and her husband Kenneth of Lockport, James Shoales and his wife Debra of Norwich, Linda Hazard and husband Raymond of Smyrna, and Michael Shoales and his wife Colleen of Andover.  Also surviving is a brother, Lynn of Constantia, and his grandchildren Kenneth Lever, Jr.; James, Jr., Timothy, Chrystal, Tammy and Jennifer Shoales; Jeremy and Christie Hazard; and Chadrick and Kayla Shoales; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Donald will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Amy Gregory officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
