Donald Lewis Jr.


GEORGETOWN – Donald C. Lewis Jr., 38, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007 after a long illness. He was born in Cortland.
His goal in life was to be a preacher and get to heaven in the back of a pickup truck. He loved his family, friends and even those he did not know. His favorite song was “Jesus Loves Me” and his favorite saying was “I love you because I go to church.” He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Surviving are his parents, Donald and Bonnie Crandall Lewis Sr. of Georgetown; sisters, Kalinda (John) Mason of Idaho, Penny (Darrell) Witty of Taylor and Denise (Jay) Franklin of North Norwich; brothers Perry (Debbie) of South Otselic and Wayne (Jessica) of DeRuyter; nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Bethany and Alan Lewis, Daniel and Andrea Mason, Joshua, Dylan, SerenaRa and DeeAnn Witty, Tyi, Spencer and Shay Franklin, Kennedy and Kayla, Wayne and Logan Lewis; step-grandmother Alice Lewis of South Carolina along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Gladys and Harold Lewis, step-grandmother Nita Lewis and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Olive Crandall.
Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Burial will be in Truxton Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
