Elvira Mudge


PRESTON – Elvira M. ‘Honey’ Mudge, 73 of Preston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at her home.
Born in Preston on Nov. 20, 1933, Honey was the daughter of Linn and Elvira (Franklin) Kenyon. She attended school in Preston and then in Oxford.  She worked on the family farm until 1971 when she joined Norwich Pharmaceuticals, where she worked until her health forced her to retire.
On Aug. 24, 1974 she married Frances (Jim) Mudge, who passed away Feb. 15, 2005.  Honey enjoyed embroidery and her special pets, Sassy and Fido.
 Honey is survived by four sisters, Bessie Burdick and Marion Warner of Norwich, Rosie Moreau of East McDonough, Ruth Rippo of Boca Raton, Fla.; a brother, James Kenyon and wife Shirley of Oxford; and many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Florence and Alice, and two brothers, Linn and Charles.  She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Vi and Larry Madson, her nephew Jim and Pauline Pope and her neighbors and caregivers Bill and Lucinda Danielson, Chuckie and Tracy Stein, Dorothy Armstrong and Gloria Colton, as well as her hunter friends Jim, Mike, Brad and Tom.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Honey’s memory may be made to the American heart Association or Hospice of Chenango County.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Riverview Cemetery in Oxford, with Rev. Susan Polizzi, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Norwich, officiating. At Honey’s request, there will be no calling hours.
