Daniel Elwood


NORWICH – Daniel R. Elwood, 44, of Upper Ravine Road, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his family and close friends.
Dan was born in Sidney, the son of Lloyd and Helen (Freed) Elwood.  He graduated from Bainbridge-Guilford High School with the Class of 1980.  He earned his associates degree from SUNY Cobleskill in 1982.  Dan began a career as a pilot in Danbury, Conn. and later flew for a few years for Procter & Gamble.  He was flying a Gulfstream 200 for Max Worldwide when illness forced his retirement.
Dan had a passion for flying and very much enjoyed his home, his animals, his family and his friends. He was a member of the United Church of Christ First Congregational in Norwich.
On March 17, 2007, Dan married Kathleen (Dibbell) Elwood who survives.  He is also survived by his daughter, Jaclyn Elwood of Norwich and his parents, Lloyd and Helen Elwood of Bainbridge; a brother, Michael Elwood of Huntington, and his stepchildren, Sierra and Nicholas Christian and Kylie Renfrow, all of Norwich.
Memorial services for Dan will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the United Church of Christ First Congregational in Norwich.  Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
It was Dan’s request that his family provide all of the flowers for his service.  Contributions in memory of Dan may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY  13815.
