Claude Moore


McDONOUGH – Claude Earl Moore, 85, of McDonough, passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 20, 2007, in the Gilmour Health Care Facility, Norwich, where he had resided in recent months.
Born in Oxford in 1922, one of four sons of Earl and Margaret (Lawton) Moore, Claude grew up in Oxford and graduated from the Oxford Schools at the age of 16. On Nov. 1, 1942, in Oxford, he married Dawn F. Miller. Claude was a farmer for most of his years and was also a long-time employee of Bennett Ireland, where he worked as a machinist. Following his retirement, he found employment in working as part of the Green Thumb project in Sherburne. The Moores had lived in Sherburne prior to moving to the McDonough area 19 years ago to be closer to their daughter.
Claude is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dawn Moore; by his children and their spouses: Carole and Ralph Weeden of Sidney, Sharon and Peter Warburton of McDonough, and James and Heidi Moore of Smyrna; by his brothers, Harold Moore of Norwich and Leslie Moore of St. Johnsville; by grandchildren: Dustin Warburton, Shannon Hutchings, Barbara Weeden, Claude Weeden, Lisa Jendl, and Shawn Weeden; and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Herman Moore, and his grandson, James Moore.
A memorial service for Claude will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the North Pharsalia Bible Church. The Rev. James Moore, Claude’s son, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m.
