Elizabeth Shelton


GUILFORD – Elizabeth S. (Betsy) Shelton, 82, of Guilford, passed away Aug. 19, 2007 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. 
She was born on June 22, 1925 in Oxford, the daughter of the late Mark and Clara (Trough) Symonds.  On June 28, 1947 in the First Congregational Church of Greene, she married Paul F. Shelton, who died on March 12, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Frederick and Bonnie Shelton of Nineveh, David and Lois Shelton of Wayne, Neb., Anne and Donald Gresko of Mechanicsville, Va., Ruth and Thomas Bilodeau of Alexandria, Va., and Mark and Sandra Shelton of Riverview, Fla., Va.,; her grandchildren, H. Mark Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Stephen Gresko, Betsy Gresko, Benjamin Bilodeau, Claire Bilodeau, Elise Bilodeau, and Alexandra Shelton and four great grandchildren.
Betsy was a graduate of Greene Central School and Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Chenango Memorial Hospital for many years and later worked at the Chenango Valley Home in Norwich. She was a member of the Guilford Emergency Squad since 1956. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bainbridge.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Bainbridge with Rev. Paul Meglathery officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Guilford at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28.  Friends are invited to the family home in Guilford for refreshments following the funeral service.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. 
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Guilford Fire Department or the Guilford Emergency Squad.
