Donald Cairns


SMITHVILLE FLATS – Donald E. Cairns, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 7, 2007 after courageously battling cancer for the past year.
He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret (Hart) Cairns; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Blanche and Herman Asma.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Anne (Asma Kalicicki) Cairns; his father, Edward Cairns, Syracuse; his children, Krystin (Wayne) Corneilson, Sadieville, Ky., Kelli Cairns, Greene, Renee Kalicicki, Clayton, N.C., Andrew (Abigail) Kalicicki, Raleigh, N.C.; his special grandchildren, Tyler Kalicicki, Clayton, N.C., Mersadies Cairns, Greene, Katelyn, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Mark Corneilson, Sadieville, Ky., Alexander Kalicicki, Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, two sisters, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, several nieces amnd nephews.
Don graduated in 1964 from Maine-Endwell High School and worked for many years as a manager of the Agway store in Norwich, and worked most recently as a commercial sales specialist at Lowe’s on Upper Front Street, Binghamton. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known as “Carnsey” and “Uncle Don” to many, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango St., Greene. The family will receive friends at the Root Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
