NEW BERLIN – Agnes L. Williams of Croton-on-Hudson, formerly of New Berlin, passed away August 6, 2007 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Peekskill.
She was born in South Edmeston on Jan. 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Clifford and Clara Carpenter Lloyd. Her childhood and adolescence were spent in the Town of New Berlin. She was a graduate of New Berlin Central School.
On Sept. 18, 1938, she married the late Roscoe T. Williams of New Berlin. From their union, four children were born: Nathan Williams of Parkersburg, W.Va., Janice Williams of Peekskill, Nancy Williams Pedersen of Geneseo and Brian Williams of Wilmington, N.C.
She was a family care provider in the Village of New Berlin for 34 years. During those years, she was a founder and president of The Community Home Care Organization for 32 years. She testified several times before committees of the New York State Legislature for better compensation for Family Care Providers and their clients. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of New Berlin.
Agnes is survived by her children, ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a sister, Rachel Bagg of Norwich and a brother, Clifford Lloyd of Cleveland, Ohio along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, sisters Gertrude Bailey, Irene Bagg and Margaret Lamb along with a brother Robert Lloyd.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin. The Rev. Dr. Nathan E. Williams will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that persons so inclined contribute to the scholarship in memory of Roscoe T. Williams at Unadilla Valley Central School, PO Box F, New Berlin, NY 13411.
