NORWICH – Funeral services for Edward Emerson were held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Lester Smith, pastor of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, celebrated a Mass of Resurrection.
Mass began with Ed’s wife, Margaret, his brother, Spencer Royster Jr., Joan Royster and Ed’s sister, Margaret Powel and Phillip Powell placing the baptismal pall upon the casket. The readings for the Mass were proclaimed by Margaret Wells, Julia Simcoe and Debra Buchan.  Presenting the offertory gifts to Father Smith were Jim and Gerry Cusumano and Kathleen and Craig Livingston.  Nicky Mendolia, Jane Casamento, Marie Dykstra and Frank Speziale served as Eucharistic Ministers.  Joseph Caezza spoke in remembrance. The organist for the services was Mary Ward while Antoinette Perkins was the soloist. Robert Jeffrey and George Zieno were the altar servers.
 Burial took place in St. Paul’s Cemetery with Father Smith reciting the committal prayers. Full military honors were conducted by members of the local veteran’s organizations. The casket bearers were Peter Ward, Jonathan Mendolia, Timothy Livingston, Joseph Fama, Michael Mirabito and Todd Wells.
 Fourth Degree members of the Knights of Columbus Council #211 served as honor guard at the family calling hours and at the funeral.
 The arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
