Nora Edwards


NORWICH – Nora G. Edwards, 83, of Norwich, passed away Saturday morning, July 1, 2006, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in New Berlin on April 27, 1923, Nora was the daughter of Lewis and Angie Figary Follett. A resident of the Norwich area all of her life, Nora grew up on the family farm in the Chenango Lake area and had attended the South New Berlin school. Nora and Clifford Edwards were married on June 10, 1943. She had previously worked for the Norwich Mills, and her last employment was with the Scintilla and its successor, Bendix Corp.
Nora is survived by her children: Arthur Edwards and wife Susan of Wallingford, Conn., William Edwards of Norwich, Sharon Schumacher and husband John of Marathon, and Elizabeth Alien and husband Jim of Port Orange, Fla.: her grandchildren: Kelly Edwards Brown and husband Glen of Perth, Australia; Jarrod Edwards and wife Andrea of Randolph, N.J.; Susan Lewis Sandy and husband Paul of Truxton, Eugene Lewis and wife Linda of Spartanburg, S.C.; Edward Lewis Jr. and wife Kim of Cincinnatus, Eric Lewis and wife Jennifer of Smithville Flats, and Ryan Edwards and wife Vanessa of Port Orchard, Wash.; and by her great grandchildren: Kyle Sandy, Cody Sandy, Andrew Lewis, Bradley Lewis, Allison Lewis, Alien Lewis, Rozlynn Edwards, Athena Edwards, and Emma Lewis. She is also survived by her sisters: Ola Scripture, Alva Smith, and Reba Cummings, all of Norwich; and Norma LaHommedieu and husband Jack of Altamont; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Clifford, who passed away on May 26, 2004, Nora was predeceased by her brother, Roy Follett, and sister, Florence Dain Youngs.
Funeral services for Nora will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis McKenna, pastor of the Assembly of God Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
