NORWICH – Bonnie J. Powell, 61, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Saturday morning, July 7, 2007, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Thomas B. and Barbara (Phillips) Tiffany, Bonnie was born in Norwich on Sept. 20, 1945. She attended and graduated from Norwich High School and worked briefly in her early years for Victory Markets and Montgomery Wards. She attended beautician school in Binghamton and obtained her license, but never practiced her profession. Instead, on July 3, 1965, in Norwich, Bonnie married Gary Powell and became a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was utterly devoted to her family and made them the basis of her life.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Gary Powell; her children: Terri Halom and husband Chris, Michael Powell and wife Rebecca, and Brenda Mucha and husband James, all of Norwich; her grandchildren: Amanda and Sarah Powell, Carrie and Heather Halom, and Tucker and Andy Mucha; and her step-mother. Alma Poston of Flat Rock, North Carolina. She was predeceased by son, Gary Edward Powell, Jr.; her brother, Thomas Tiffany; and her sister, Brenda Kay Powell.
At Bonnie’s request, there will be no formal service or calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of her family. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Bonnie’s memory are asked to send it to The American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
