Helen Ford


 NORWICH – Helen C. Ford, 87, of Silver Street and formerly of Rexford Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Camillus.
Born January 16, 1920 in Copenhagen, NY, Helen was the daughter of George and Grace (McCormick) Burns. She graduated from the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Helen joined the U.S. Navy during W.W.II as a nurse, achieving the rank of Ensign. She retired from Chenango Memorial Hospital where she had worked for many years, before becoming a Mary Kay consultant.  Helen volunteered at many American Red Cross Blood Drives. She was an avid golfer, S.U. sports fan and loved the NY Yankees. Helen was a passionate reader and had a love for her flowers, which brought her much pleasure. She will always be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.
In November of 1945, Helen married John T. Ford who died on July 3, 1966.  She is survived by her children, Donna “Dee” Ford and her companion, Shirley Boyd of Camillus, Patrick and Debra Ford of Norwich, Ann and Kim Fricke of Rochester and Ellen and Dennis Cahill of Atlantic Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jackie, Patrick, Michael, Alex, George, Grace, Patrick and Robbie; two sisters, Alice and Dennis Cheney of Watertown and Jane Kelly of Barre, VT. Helen was predeceased by son, Michael, a grandson, John and a sister, Marilyn McNulty.
A memorial Mass of Resurrection for Helen will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.  Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.  Wake services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m.
