Francis Webb Jr.


BAINBRIDGE – Francis L. Webb Jr., 70, of Bainbridge, passed away on June 21, 2007.
He was born on March 5, 1937 in Oxford, the son of the late Francis L. and Bertha (Gates) Webb. He graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School, Class of 1955, where he was an all star athlete in football, baseball, basketball and track. He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after 36 years of service. He was actively involved in his community, serving as a former member of the Oxford Fire Department, the Oxford Village Board of Trustees, Lions Club Baseball coach, and Meals on Wheels.  He was a trustee of the United Methodist Church of Bainbridge and St. John’s Roman Catholic Church of Bainbridge. He was an avid New York Yankee fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Bonnie Smith Webb; his children, Kim E. (Costello) Webb and her husband Frank, and Jason A. Webb and his wife Danielle; his step-children, Kim W. Fragetta and her husband Ron and Greg Warren; his adopted family, Jeanne and Gordon Shields; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Webb, and Melvin and Lorraine Webb; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ken Cole, and Carolyn and Ken Marvin. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Ashlee, Autumn, Allie, Christina and Candice, all of Florida, and Kyle and Justine of New Hartford, and Chelsea and Tyler of Rhode Island, and Katrina and Gordie of Guilford. He was predeceased by two sons, Francis Scott Webb and Jeffrey Neil Webb.
Francis will be remembered by those who have met him briefly and those who have known him for a lift-time. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping; we all have you in our heart.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with Pastor Dolly Tarreto and Rev. Robert Dwyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
