James L. Sayles


NORWICH – James L. Sayles, Jr., 45, of Norwich, passed away Fri., June 15, 2007, at the Wilson Hospital of Johnson City.
Born in Norwich on Feb. 22, 1962, James lived in the area all his life. His parents were James L. and Ruth (Porter) Sayles, Sr. Growing up in East Pharsalia, he attended school in Oxford, after which he worked for several area businesses: the Community Work Shop in Norwich, a bottle recycle facility in Binghamton, the Norwich Shoe Company, and, most recently, the Kountry Kettle south of Norwich where he worked as a cook. He and his wife, the former Karen Schultheis, were married in Norwich.
James is survived by his wife, Karen Sayles of Rhode Island; his daughter, Amethyst Sayles of Oxford; sister Dawn Rowan of Oxford; two half-brothers, Harold and Kevin Friedel; and by nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his brother, Ivan Sayles.
Memorial services for James will be held Monday evening, June 25, 7 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church of Norwich, with Rev. Ralph Hinman presiding. Interment will be in the J. D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
