Elizabeth Dye


NORWICH – Elizabeth “Betty” Dye, 87, of Norwich, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 21, in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Elizabeth was born December 14, 1919 in Edmeston the daughter of Harry and Jessie (Boutwell) Dye. She spent her early years in Edmeston where she attended the local schools. Moving to the Norwich area in the late 1970s, Elizabeth established herself as a well known and gifted artist. Over the years she had painted many pictures and portraits, some of which are owned by local residents. For many years in Norwich, Elizabeth had been the housekeeper for St. Paul’s Rectory, having worked with several priests over the years.
Elizabeth is survived by several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws.
She was predeceased by her sisters; Dorothy Sorenson, Gertrude Gray and Wilma Hall and her brothers; Roger, Dever and Leon Dye.
Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held on Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m. from the Marian Chapel of St. Paul’s Church. The Reverend Lester Smith, Pastor of St. Malachy’s Roman Catholic Church of Sherburne, will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery of Edmeston.
Friends may call on Monday at the Marian Chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
