William Perez


NORWICH - William Y. Perez, 83 on June 16, 2007. He was the son of the late Ysidro and Esther Perez. We recognize the passing of a Christian, who followed a life of service to God, family, Church, country and community. Bill served as a Church Elder and Trustee. He was a founding member of the Bethlemen Community Church in Delmar. He was a member of the Starboard Community Club, a proud member of the Albany County Republican committee and volunteered for many years for the Bethlehem Senior Projects.
Bill was a Principal Sanitarian with the New York State Department of Health, retiring after 32 years of service as a Statewide Manager. He was also a founding member of the New York State Society of Professional Sanitarians.
He was a WWII Army veteran serving as a Sergeant in the 746th Field Artillery in the 9th Division in the European Theatre.
Bill was the loving husband of Virginia “Ginny” Perez for 61 years on June 15; father of Gaylord W. Perez and wife Shirley, William Y. Perez II and his wife Mary, Robert W. Perez and his wife Deborah, Paul G. Perez and his wife Megan; brother of Elinor O’Brien and the late Rosita Perez; grandfather of Virginia, Morgan, Trey, Timothy, Carley, Alden & Christopher; great-grandfather of Jazmyn, Simon and Lilianna; uncle of Dee Ann Demers and father-in-law of Tongdee Jareanphan.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Bethlehem Community Church, 201 Elm Ave., Delmar. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
Contributions may be made to either the Church or the Captial City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202.
