NORWICH – Donald M. MacKenzie, 79, of Country Club Road, Norwich, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at his home.
Born in Roosevelt, Long Island on Jan. 27, 1928, Don was the son of Donald and Minifer LaTourete MacKenzie. He attended school in Seaford, and prior to moving to Norwich three years ago from Wyandanch, had spent his entire life on Long Island. Don had worked many years for the Slomis Oil Co. in Massapequa maintaining their truck fleet. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Don is survived by his sons: Donald MacKenzie of Willet, John MacKenzie of South Otselic and David MacKenzie of Norwich, his step-son Edward Muller of McDonough, two grandsons: David MacKenzie, Jr. and Jeremy Muller, his sister Dolores Allen of Hensonville, and his brother Bruce MacLaine of Michigan and his son George. Also surviving is the mother of his children Shirley MacKenzie of South Otselic and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with full military rites for Don will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate.
There will be no calling hours.
