Donald Myers


NORTH NORWICH – Donald E. Myers, 76, of North Norwich, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2007 at his residence.
Born in Williamsport, Pa. on Sept. 20, 1930, Don was the son of the late Harry E. and Helen Mae (App) Myers. He spent his early years in the Albany area where his father worked on construction, consequently ending up in the Norwich-Oxford area where Don graduated from Oxford Academy in 1948. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent four years aboard ship, mostly in Japanese and Korean waters during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from active service, Don returned to Norwich working at different jobs until entering the farm silo construction field from 1959 to 1981. He then gained employment with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals where he remained until his retirement in 1994.
Don was a member of American Legion Post 189 in Norwich.
Don is survived by his son, Travis and Randi Lee Myers of Binghamton; a sister, Betty Van Hoesen of Albany and a brother, William Myers and his wife, Rita of Palm Bay, Fla.; four nephews, Rick and Ronald Wallace and Ted and Larry Myers. He is also survived by his good friends, Bill and Laura Funk.
Funeral services for Don will be held at noon on Saturday, May 26., at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
