MELIDA SHERWOOD
EARLVILLE – Melida B. Sherwood, 52, of Humphrey Road, Earlville, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford.
She was born in Satawan Island, Micronesia on Dec. 21, 1954, a daughter of the late Oblain and Meriann Marcus Boaz. She received her education in Ponape ((Pohnpei) Micronesia, before coming to the mainland United States in 1974. On June 8, 1974 in Sherburne, she was united in marriage to Larry A. Sherwood. After raising four children, Melida began working at the Hamilton Manor in Hubbardsville. She was a kind, gentle-hearted person and a truly loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, Larry; her mother-in-law, Margaret Sherwood of Sherburne; her children Naomi and Shawn Coleman of Charleston, S.C.. Jessaca Sherwood of Norwich, Daniel and Rave Sherwood of Lynchburg, Va. and Mary Sherwood of Sherburne; her grandchildren, Shawn Coleman Jr., Jaden Coleman and Nevaeh Waffle; a sister, Menrose Boaz and a brother, Kreno Boaz as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the East Hamilton United Methodist Church, Rt. 12, Hubbardsville.
Interment will be in the Poolville Cemetery.
Friends are invited and may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
