Lillian Dromgoole


 SHERBURNE – Lillian White Dromgoole, 84, of North Main St., passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Gilmour Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
She was born Dec. 7, 1922 in Norwich, a daughter of Hugh M. and Helen Griswold White of New Berlin. She was a graduate of New Berlin Central School in 1940 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Buffalo. She also attended the Albright Art School in Buffalo and pursued her Master’s Degree at Syracuse University. Lillian was predeceased by two husbands, Ray G. Turner and Henry Thomas Dromgoole. Mrs. Dromgoole was a distinguished art teacher in the Oxford, Smyrna and Sherburne-Earlville Central Schools. When she was not teaching, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a demanding bookkeeper for the family business. Her church and family were always most important in her life, and she will be dearly missed. She conducted her life with grace and dignity to the end.
Lillian was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Turner Griffis and her husband, Jayson; their children Cortney, Sam, Barclay with his wife, Tricia, and great-grandson Cody, all of Maryland; her son Thomas Gard Turner and his children, Kelly, Thomas and Nicole, all of Sherburne; her daughter, Mary Dromgoole Daniels and her husband, Jim; their children Jim, Hailey and Owen, all of Mississippi; her son Michael Thomas Dromgoole and his children, Kimberly and Joshua, all of Norwich; her son, Edward Hugh Dromgoole of Sherburne. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Ann Dromgoole Cunningham and her husband, Joe of Sherburne; sister-in-law, Florence Dromgoole of Liverpool, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne, followed by interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
The Rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
