NORTH NORWICH – Bernice J. Rickard, 68, of North Norwich, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 12, 2007 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Bernice was born on May 30, 1938, in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Alice and Roy Berg. On April 15, 1956, she married William Rickard who survives, along with her four children: Debra and George Ballard of Oxford, Edward and Cathy Rickard of Norwich, Tammie and Rich Wiltsie of Oxford, and Scott and Lori Rickard of Brisben. Bernice is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeania Ballard, G.M. Ballard, Bobbijo Ballard, Christina Ballard, Bernice Ballard, Edward “Teddy” Rickard Jr., Mickie Rickard, Justen Rickard, Jeremey Rickard, Courtney Wiltsie, Haley Rickard, Alex Rickard, and Hope Rickard; and her great grandchildren: Kyra Gorszczyk, Landon Ballard, Talhen Ballard, Madison Rickard, and Ryan Rickard.
Bernice was a loving wife and companion, a great mother, and wonderful friend. Her lifelong special friends were Bert Shedd of Smyrna, Doris Ashcraft of Norwich and, her best friend and cousin, Mary Ann Williams of Ohio. She was well known for her beautiful crocheted pieces and her paintings. Most important in her life, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Memorial service for Bernice will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, from the North Norwich Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeremy Stopford officiating. There will be no calling hours.
