Helen Hile


EDMESTON – Helen (Billie) P. Hile, a resident of Preswick Chase of Saratoga Springs, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Saratoga Hospital. She was 86.
Born on Jan. 16, 1920 in Edmeston, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mildred (Hopkins) Brooks. Helen was a graduate of Edmeston High School where she played on the basketball team. She and her husband met and where married at Ryan Air Force Base in Tucson Arizona in June 1944 while he was in the Army only to find out that they grew up sixteen miles from each other. Helen worked there preparing flight schedules. She was a co-owner of Wilton Estates Mobile Home Park and previously owned several businesses in Edmeston including a hardware store, a plumbing and heating supply store, House of Helen Soap, Happy Cooking Gas, a sporting goods store and The Shed restaurant. She and her husband also managed the Georgian Hotel in Lake George and the Treadway Inn in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the Elks Club in Queensbury and loved to dance, golf, play word games, ski, play cards, and loved parties and social gatherings.
 She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Hile of Saratoga Springs; two daughters, Jodie Goff of Wilton and Nancy Wooding and her husband, David of Halfmoon; a son, Jack Hile of Wilton; two granddaughters, Brenda Breen and her husband, Tim of Wilton and Melissa Hile of Texas; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
 Services will be private at the convenience of the family and burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
