Doris Roeser


NORWICH – Doris P. Roeser, 86, of Norwich passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, with her family at her side.
 Born in Norwich Feb. 10, 1921, Doris was the daughter of Garfield and Mary (Bath) Prindle. She graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1938.  After graduation she worked at several jobs, working at the Hamilton House as bookkeeper from 1958 until her retirement in 1987.
 On June 18, 1949 Doris married Konrad ‘Wally’ Roeser in Norwich.  He died in 1990. She is survived by a twin sister, Gladys Stewart of South Plymouth and sister Anne Tucker and her husband Larry of Norwich. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Prindle, and two sisters, Margaret Prindle and Ruth Byrne.
 Doris loved to play bingo, enjoyed knitting and was a whiz at word puzzles.  She had an extensive collection of lighthouse memorabilia. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Ladies of the Elks. Most of all, she was devoted to her family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Mahaffey, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Doris may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich; or the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 Co. Rd. 32, Norwich, 13815.
