HOMER – Anna Swertfager Brown, 90, formerly of Homer, passed away June 17, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Elmira.
She was born Oct. 18, 1915 in Norwich, the daughter of the late Arthur & Belva Bacon Swertfager.
Anna was a graduate of Cortland High School in 1932. While living locally, she was employed by Cortland-Madison Boces and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. After moving to Horseheads, she attended the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Rev. Arthur (Luci) Brown of Acton, Mass., daughters, Meribeth (Rev. James) Mott of Elmira, Carole (Dr. David) Owen of Bloomfield, Conn., nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her husband, Howard Brown, in 1998.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Calling hours will be 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Groton Rural Cemetery.
