Laureen L. Meyer

PRESTON – Laureen L. Meyer, 73, of Preston, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, at her home.
Born in Pharsalia on October 17, 1933, Laureen was the daughter of Clinton and Bertha (Phetteplace) Button. She was a life-long resident of Chenango County, residing in several different townships and attending the local schools, and had pursued and obtained her GED degree. On May 20, 1951, in Norwich, Laureen married Albert Meyer. They had made their home in Preston since 1952 where, for many years, they owned and operated a farm. Laureen was a family-oriented lady whose family came first, but she also pitched right in to help on the farm as she could while she raised her family, and concurrently held jobs outside the home. She was an employee of Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals for ten years, followed by her 20+ years working with the GHS Federal Credit Union. An avid pitch player who never missed the Wednesday night pitch games at the Outpost in McDonough, Laureen also loved to sing and Polka. She had her motorcycle license, liked Nascar, and enjoyed deer hunting.
Laureen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Albert Meyer of Preston; by her children: Raymond Meyer and wife Ann of Roanoke, VA, Ronald Meyer of Norwich, Stanley Meyer and wife Linda of Plymouth, Marilyn Marango and husband Gary of Norwich, Carolyn Towner and companion Art Powell of South Plymouth, and Eileen Miller and husband Gary of Norwich. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene “PeeWee” Moon of Florida, her brother, Clinton “Ben” Button and Faye of Florida, 19 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Laureen was predeceased by her son, Steve Meyer in 1993; her granddaughter, Stacey Ann Meyer; her sister, Laura Russock; and brothers Willard, Richard, and Raymond.
Funeral services for Laureen will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the J. D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston. Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tues. from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Laureen's family has asked that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
