Hilda Hanson


NORWICH – Hilda L. Hanson, 89, life-long Norwich resident, passed away Sunday morning, April 1, 2007, at her home.
The daughter of Burton C. and Mary (Richardson) Morse, Hilda was born in Norwich on March 17, 1918. She attended school in Norwich, and was employed by the Norwich Pharmacal Company in their packaging department for 29 years, retiring as a member of their Quarter Century Service Club. Hilda was an avid bowler who participated in many state tournaments. The mother of six, raising her children in conjunction with working full-time, Hilda was justifiably proud that all her children grew to be happy, well-adjusted, and responsible people.
Hilda is survived by her children: Theodore C. Hanson and wife Antonia, Syracuse, David B. Hanson and wife Sandra, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; Richard F. Hanson and Rose, of Rochester, Gary L. Hanson, wife Kathy, of Morrisville, Pa.; Audre Voght and husband George of Gloversville, and Patricia L. Monday, husband Linn C., of Norwich; by 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and her niece, Maxine Gould of Alexandria Bay. She was predeceased by her former husband Elmer on June 18, 1982, and her brothers. Fay and Melvin Morse.
Funeral services for Hilda will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Susan Polizzi, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
Hilda’s family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
