Grover Manwarren

NORWICH – Grover L. Manwarren, 83, life-long Chenango County resident, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Born in McDonough on March 2, 1924, Grover was the son of Lynn and Estella (Sayles) Manwarren, Sr. Following his education in the East Pharsalia and Oxford schools, Grover went to work in the construction field. Over the years, he held several different jobs, but his last employment was as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Plymouth Highway Dept, from which he retired in the early 1990s. Grover enjoyed cooking for his family, being especially fond of doing spaghetti dinners, and had an electric car which he liked driving “all over town.” Over the years, he liked spending time with his special brother Ike and his wife Thelma, whether taking rides throughout the countryside or just enjoying being with them at their home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and for the last 16 years had made his home at the Golden Age Apts. in Norwich.
Grover is survived by his brothers: Lloyd Manwarren and Emmett “Ike” Manwarren and his wife Thelma, all of Norwich, and Lynn Manwarren, Jr. of South Plymouth; by his sisters-in-law, Agnes Manwarren and Mildred Manwarren of Plymouth; by his aunt, Agnes Granger of McDonough; and by many nieces and nephews, including Clyde and June Manwarren, who helped care for him through the years. Grover was predeceased by his four sisters: Pearl Thompson of Plymouth, Bernice Parker of Norwich, and two in infancy; by brothers: Wilson, Ernest and his wife Mary, Francis, and Russell; and by sisters-in-law, Janice and Ethel.
Funeral services for Grover will be held at noon on Wednesday from the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Susan Polizzi, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the South Side Cemetery of Plymouth. Friends are invited to call at the First Baptist Church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service at noon.
Grover’s family has asked that memorial contributions be sent to the First Baptist Church, 10 West Park Place, Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
