Ronald Daniels


HOLMESVILLE – Ronald Charles Daniels, 68, of Holmesville, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2007 at his home where he has resided the past 36 years.
Born April 29, 1938, at home in South New Berlin, he was one of 6 children of Andy and Rena Coy Daniels. He graduated in South New Berlin Class of 1956, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. On July 22, 1961, he married Johanne (Susie) Thomsen, in Holmesville. They lived in South New Berlin, Endwell, Apalachin, and Holmesville.
He earned his Toolmaker Apprenticeship Certificate from Scintilla in 1964 and worked for seven years at Cadre in Endwell. In 1972 he started working for Mold-a-Matic in Oneonta where he worked until his retirement. He worked at various home sales businesses also.
Ronald was an active member and deacon at Holmesville Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of the volunteer Fire Police with the South New Berlin fire department. He was an avid outdoorsman: hunting, fishing, and trapping each year along with his sons. Other interests included memberships in NRA and the New York State Houndsman Association. He enjoyed camping and spending time with family. He was always kind and considerate and was never heard to speak poorly of others.
Surviving are his wife, Johanne; one daughter Karen of Newberry Springs, Calif.; daughter-in-law Vicky of Ninilchik, Ark., and grandchildren Abigail, Caleb, and Joanna; son Steven and daughter-in-law Joanne of Guilford and grandchildren Jacob, Anna, Wyatt, and Joshua; son Matthew and daughter-in-law Emmy of Holmesville and grandchildren Thane and Adrianna; three sisters: Evelyn (and Earl) Boughton of Harmonsburg, Pa.; Norma Johansen of Monroeville, PA; and Joyce (and Harry) Kott of South Plymouth; two brothers: John Daniels of South New Berlin; and Francis (and Loretta) of Halcottsville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Andrew and Kevin, and a granddaughter, Naomi. 
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at the Holmesville Baptist Church, with Rev. Romeyn Kipp, pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to call at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be made in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, South New Berlin.
