Frank Pizza


NORWICH – Frank A. Pizza passed away unexpectedly March 23, 2007. Frank, the son of Frank and Clara, grew up in Oneonta where he attended St. Mary's Catholic School. He then graduated from Oneonta High School. He earned his teaching degrees from Oneonta State College.
Frank was a well-known teacher at Perry Browne Elementary in Norwich for 33 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time in his garden. During his retirement years he spent time volunteering at Our Daily Bread Food Pantry in Norwich. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends, as well as those whose lives he touched in the community.
Frank is survived by his wife Rose Marie of Norwich, his son Joseph Pizza and fiancée Heather Hendricks of Greene, his daughter Angela Pizza and Ryan Perry of Oneonta, and his mother in law Julia Lorenzo of Norwich. He is also survived by sister Chris Blom of Rockdale, her son Dave and Melissa Blom and children Danielle and Nicholas of Sherrill, her son Matthew Blom and his fiancée Kristen Blair of North Syracuse; sister Lillian and Thomas Carlton of Richmond Va., their daughter Anna and Donald Neece and children Nicole and Andrew of Pawhalton Va.; sister Annita Pizza of Wyoming and her daughters Nicole Rintamaki of Oregon and Tara Rintamaki of Nevada. Frank was predeceased by parents Frank and Clara Pizza.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Frank's memory to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry located at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich.
Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Bartholomew in Norwich, with Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Norwich.
