VIRGINIA SAMSON
NORWICH – Virginia “Ginny” Samson, 72, of Norwich, and formerly of Lakeland, Fla. and Oxford, passed away early Tuesday evening, March 20, 2007 at the home of her daughter following a long illness.
Born in Georgetown on March 10, 1935, Ginny was the daughter of Thomas and Clara Hall Denney. She has spent most of her life in Oxford before moving to Lakeland in 1999. Ginny had worked at the Cresent Corsett Company in Oxford, the Norwich Shoe Company and had retired from the Norwich Baton Pharmacal Company.
Virginia Married Richard “Dick” Samson in Chittenango on April 9, 1955. He predeceased her on Nov. 29, 2005. Her greatest love was her family and she especially loved following her grandchildren’s sports endeavors.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah Lee and Gerald Bennett of Norwich, Tina Marie and Dennis Carey of Windsor, Beverly Louise and Joseph Chrystie of Oxford and Bonnie Jean and Allan Brainard of Waynesboro, Pa., and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Sampson of Schuylkill Haven, Pa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Justin Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Ryan Harvey and his wife Erica, Kathryn Carey, Jonathan Carey, Michael Chrystie, Sara Chrystie, Courtney Brainard, Brittany Brainard, Mathew Samson, and Marrisa Samson. Besides her husband, Ginny was predeceased by her son Mark Royce Samson on Sept. 5, 1998.
Memorial services for Ginny will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7 from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor of the Church of the Holy Apostles of Norwich officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
