Mildred Carson


GUILFORD – Mildred Carson, 80, a Guilford resident for many years, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007 in the Vassar Hospital of Poughkeepsie.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., Mildred was the daughter of Emil and Helen (Rutter) Schultz. Growing up in the Jersey City area, she attended and graduated from the local schools. Mildred and her husband of over 40 years, Wayne Carson, were married in Jersey City on Jan. 21, 1945. In 1967 they left New Jersey and moved to Guilford, where they operated a dairy farm until 1977. Mildred also worked as an account clerk for the NYS Dept. of Corrections at Camp Pharsalia. Most currently her employment was with Price Chopper in Norwich. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Norwich VFW.
Mildred is survived by her children: Virginia Schechter and spouse Joseph of Syracuse, Rolland Carson, Patricia Carson and spouse Ron of Atlanta, Ga.; Carol Carson and spouse Jim of Kingston, and John Carson of Guilford; by her Goddaughter, Chris Reilly of Whitehouse Station, N.J.; and by her siblings, Edward Schultz, Alien Schultz, and Alma Rice. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David, Warren, and Benjamin Schechter. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Wayne in 1990.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Christ Lutheran Church of Norwich. The Rev. Thomas Olson, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
